Dear colleagues and friends of photography! Photographic Society of Varna and International Photographic Salon – Varna are very pleased to invite you to participate in the Fifth edition of International Photographic Salon – Varna 2012 Exhibition has the patronage FIAP 2012/130
:: REGULATIONS AND RULES - FIAP Category – **** - Terms of participation: Professional and amateur photographers from all around the world can participate in the Salon. - Theme of the competition is OPEN: at your personal choice - Three categories: MP – Monochrome photography CP – Color photography CPP – Computer processed photography *** Each author can participate with no more than 4 (four) photos in each category. Photos must be in JPG file format. The longer side must be at least 3000 pixels, resolution 300 dpi, and quality 7-10 per both color and monochrome photos. The size of file is maximum 5 Mb. Image name must be combined from section letter /entry form/, authors name and authors surname and the title /in one FIAP official languages/ For example, first image from John Smith in monochrome section would be named mp_john_smith_summer.jpg
:: AWARDS & DIPLOMAS - Category MP – Monochrome photography, CP – Color photography, CPP – Computer processed photography First award – gold FIAP medal, FIAP Honorary Diploma, PSV Honorary Diploma, Photographic Salon Diploma Second award – silver FIAP medal, FIAP Honorary Diploma, PSV Honorary Diploma, Photographic Salon Diploma Third award – bronze FIAP medal, FIAP Honorary Diploma, PSV Honorary Diploma, Photographic Salon Diploma - All participants in the final selection/exhibition will receive printed catalogue PSV Honorary Diploma, Photographic Salon Diploma - There will be an additional FIAP award for theBest Author, follow thislink for more details of this award - Encouraging awards for each of the categories – honorary diploma - Special Awards from the sponsors – object prizes - Each author will be informed about the results of his appearance. - All participants will be notified personally if their works are nominated for price or purchase as well as if their photos are enlisted in the exhibition when sufficient information for correspondence is available.

Bird of Prey Photography

Nigel Snell Photography is delighted to announce the provision of Bird of Prey Photography sessions. In conjunction with a local Falconer, we are in the process of arranging dates for the coming season. Sessions will be half day and you will have exclusive use of Owls and Falcons in an appropriate wild setting. Photograph the birds perched in their natural environment, but even better than that, we will photograph the birds in flight, right over the top of your head, so no need for super-telephoto lenses. Action Techniques and Images of Cuba

Just a reminder about our next meeting on Thursday 12th April 2012 at 8.00pm in Ardhowen.

At our next meeting on Thursday 12th April we will have a session on Action photography techniques which will be delivered by Stephen Hetherington followed by a display of images of Cuba by David Robertson.

Congratulations go to Tom McCarthy whose PDI entry (Milk Splash) in the round one of the NIPA interclub competition was Highly Commended in the Top Prints and PDIs of the year exhibition at NIPA. You can see the list of winners etc. in the link below.  The competition was judged by one of our own members,  Anne Cassidy. (note: the HC for Top PDI is shown in error as Terry McCarthy!!)

Other diary dates

26th April Action Competition – The last competition of the season prior to the annual exhibition has the theme of Action.

3rd May – Collection of prints and images for the annual exhibition competition. (full details later)

17th May – Annual Exhibition launch in Ardhowen at 8.00pm.  For this year’s  Annual Exhibition we welcome back Des Clinton MFIAP from Drogheda who will be our judge for the event.

24th May – AGM and Annual Dinner (venue to be decided).

EAPU Open Exhibition 2012

Terry I am not sure whether I responded to your email enquiry about the 2012 East Antrim Open Exhibition.

Yes there is going to be an Exhibition this year, however it will be entirely different from previous Exhibitions, it will be entirely on-line, registration, submissions, fees, and finally display.

This has come about because in the present economic climate it has been impossible to secure venues and sponsorship, so this is the only way in which we can keep the Exhibition alive and viable.

Although the site is still under development, all information is available on www.eapu.eu

Please note that there is a limited submission period, Friday 25th. May until Sunday 10th. June (or when 500 submissions have been registered, whichever is the sooner)

Terry please make known these changes to all your colleagues, and I hope to see images from our friends in Enniskillen.

Future Events

Please note that the meeting scheduled for Thu. 22nd March has been cancelled.

 

The next scheduled meeting will be Action Photography techniques and Images of Cuba (presented by David Robertson) on Thu. 12th April.

 

The final monthly competition will have the theme of  Action on Thu 26th April.

 

The date for the submission of prints for the Annual Exhibition will be 3rd May 2012 followed by the Launch of the annual exhibition in Ardhowen on Thursday 17th May at 8.00pm.

 

The AGM and Annual dinner will take place on Thursday 24th May 2012, venue to be finalised.

 

We also hope to have an additional evening of photography at “Dusk in Castlecoole” shortly after Easter.  More details to follow when the date etc. is finalised.

Congratulations to Ciaran Reilly who has gained a NIPA star for his colour print “Fright Night” in the 5th Round, Shadows Competition.
